About the Role

The Systems Integration team at Base is responsible for ensuring our power systems, inverters, and batteries work together as one reliable product in the real world. As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will establish and lead the software-driven integration function, building the tools, pipelines, and team that allow Base to bring hardware, firmware, and software together into trusted, high-quality products at scale. You will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineering to define how our systems should integrate end-to-end, and then prove it through rigorous, software-driven test and integration frameworks.

What You'll Do

Develop new software tools in python, c/c++, and golang that accelerate feature development. Define and build the integration test pipeline running HIL and full-system tests on self-hosted CI runners. Lead the development of integration software connecting inverters, batteries, and power systems, including gRPC/HTTP APIs, CAN interfaces (including ISO-TP and UDS), as well as UART/SPI/I2C.

Architect and oversee the development of integration test automation software, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure that validate the system as a whole. Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, cloud, and hardware teams to resolve integration issues, influence design decisions, and improve product reliability. Generate and communicate detailed integration and system-health reports to support compliance, certification, and executive decision-making.

Required Skills / Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in Python, Golang, and/or bare-metal C and C++, with a focus on systems integration, distributed systems, or embedded/software interfaces for hardware products A systems-level mindset and passion for integrating hardware, firmware, and software into reliable, resilient products. Expertise building integration test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling that validate multi-subsystem software and hardware interactions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across disciplines.

America's power grid is failing - electricity costs have risen even as generation gets cheaper, and blackouts are becoming more common. We're building the software that fixes it. Our team owns the entire stack: firmware that controls batteries in thousands of homes, trading algorithms that buy and sell power in real-time markets, distributed commanding systems that orchestrate a growing fleet as a single grid asset, factory software for our Austin manufacturing line, and the product experience that makes it all invisible to homeowners.
