Description

Life at UiPath

The people at UiPath believe in the transformative power of automation to change how the world works. We’re committed to creating category-leading enterprise software that unleashes that power.

To make that happen, we need people who are curious, self-propelled, generous, and genuine. People who love being part of a fast-moving, fast-thinking growth company. And people who care—about each other, about UiPath, and about our larger purpose.

Could that be you?

Principal Product Designer, Platform

Full time · Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
Bellevue, WA or Austin, TX

About the team

Within the UiPath Platform, Maestro is our orchestration layer: where agents, robots, and people are brought together to run business processes end to end, and where those processes are designed, built, and deployed.

Maestro is tackling a new class of design problems: how people, agents, and automation work together in complex business processes. You'll help define the interaction models for that world, not just apply patterns that already exist.

We are making the AI surfaces that a new generation of builders work in—people who move between intent, design, and running software without changing tools. And we build Maestro as a deeply integrated team, where design, product management, and engineering share the work and blur the lines between roles.

About the role

You will own the end-to-end experience of one or more Maestro products, from enterprise developer surfaces, through observability, to the consumer-grade business apps our customers rely on to get their work done. You meet with customers to understand their goals deeply, so you know where the product needs to go.

PMs and engineers are your crew. You work with them every day and ship together. The lines between roles are blurring on purpose, but the quality of the experience is yours to own.

You will ship what you design. Designers here use tools like Claude Code and Codex to turn an idea into a working prototype the same day and a shipped feature in days or weeks. You explore in the real product instead of stopping at a mockup, and when it is right, you can open the PR yourself alongside engineering.

When a hard problem cuts across product, engineering, and design, you bring the team to a decision. Your impact extends beyond your own product: you raise the quality bar, shape how we build, and make the designers around you better.

You will report to the Director of Product Design for Maestro.

What you'll own

  • The experience. The end-to-end UX of one or more Maestro products and the quality bar they are held to.
  • Design direction. You set it with your PM and engineering partners, carry it through delivery, and resolve the gaps when the three functions see the problem differently.
  • Coherence across Maestro. What you build on your products has to hold up alongside the others. You work with fellow Maestro and platform designers to ensure consistency.
  • Quality of implementation. You move beyond design mocks and prototypes and contribute to production code—ensuring quality from design to the end customer experience.
  • Team influence. You create opportunities for designers to grow and help shape how design, product, and engineering build together.
  • Design strategy. You inform the design strategy for your products and help shape the direction of Maestro more broadly, turning customer needs, business goals, and technical possibilities into a clear point of view for where the experience should go.
  • Business outcomes. Design is measured against the same product metrics the team carries. You establish the baseline for your product and are precise about what design influences.

What we're looking for

  • Deep product design experience. Typically 10+ years owning meaningful product areas, with a consumer-grade quality bar you can bring into a complex enterprise domain.
  • Exceptional product and design judgment. You know how to work with internal teams and customers to uncover what is needed, not just what they ask for. This is non-negotiable.
  • Design leadership. You can align product, engineering, and design around a complex problem, make the tradeoffs clear, and move the team toward a decision.
  • Strong instincts, backed by evidence. You dig into unfamiliar domains, spot gaps early, and push quality higher rather than waiting to be told.
  • Business curiosity. You want the context and go get it—from PMs, data, and customers directly rather than waiting for a brief.
  • You build. You use tools like Claude Code or Codex to move directly from an idea to working software. You don't need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable working in a modern frontend codebase. If you haven't worked this way yet, you should be excited to learn.
  • Strong product judgment. You can take a position on what should be built, make the case with designers, PMs, and engineers, and change course when the evidence calls for it.
  • Cross-product thinking. You can design for several teams and surfaces while keeping the overall experience coherent.
  • Excellent communication. You can go deep with engineers on implementation details and work with product leaders on strategy and priorities.
  • Familiarity with tools like Figma and GitHub, and comfort working through ambiguity.

Experience we value

  • Experience designing AI or agentic products, especially where people and automation share the work.
  • Experience designing tools for builders: developer, low-code, or workflow products.
  • Experience with design systems shared across multiple product teams.
  • Experience in business automation or enterprise software.
