Test Automation Engineer

Job Overview

Test Automation Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to develop and maintain automated regression testing solutions for hardware components and software services. The candidate will be responsible for building automation frameworks, reusable functions, classes, components, scripts, and test cases to improve software quality, reliability, and test efficiency.

• Develop and maintain automated regression test suites for hardware and software components.
• Design and develop automation classes, reusable components, test utilities, and frameworks using Python
• Develop automation scripts using Pytest-BDD style
• Design and implement automated test cases based on software/hardware requirements and specifications.
• Automate functional, integration, system, e2e, and regression testing.
• Analyze test results, logs, and failures; debug issues; identify root causes and raise defects as appropriate.
• Develop utilities for test data generation, test fixtures, log collection, result analysis, and automated reporting.
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines; continuously improve test coverage and execution efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to replace manual testing with automation and reduce regression execution time.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation frameworks and test infrastructure.
• Participate in test planning, design reviews, peer code reviews, and defect triage.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications:

• 3–6 years of experience in Python software development and test automation.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience developing automation frameworks, reusable classes/components, scripts, and test suites.
• Good understanding of functional, integration, system, e2e, and regression testing.
• Strong experience of working in a Linux environment.
• Good debugging and troubleshooting skills using tools such as GDB, python debugger(e.g.pdb)
• Experience with Git, CMake, and software configuration management.
• Ability to analyze logs and investigate automation/test failures to determine the root cause.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC,STLC

Experience in the following areas will be an added advantage(Nice to have):

• Bash scripting for test automation.
• Knowledge of C++ testing frameworks.
• Automation of embedded or hardware-dependent applications.
• Knowledge of RS-232, RS-485, SPI, UART, and other hardware communication protocols.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, TLS, and IPv6.
• Experience with Docker, Conan, and C++11/C++14/C++17.
• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD automation.
• Familiarity with Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and related development tools.
• Knowledge of GCC, grep, awk, sed, systemd, and Linux command-line tools.
• Experience with automated test reporting, log analysis, and failure analysis.
• Exposure to embedded systems, ARM platforms, or microcontrollers.
• Experience with system-level design and automation.
