Engineer Long Term Planning

We are seeking a highly motivated Long-Term Planning Engineer to develop and optimize life-of-mine plans that support the achievement of production, operational, and business objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating strategic mining scenarios, preparing long-term production schedules, and ensuring that quantitative, qualitative, and economic targets are achieved. This role plays a key part in maximizing the value of the mining operation through effective resource planning, reserve optimization, and the development of strategies that enhance the mine's Net Present Value (NPV).

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain Life of Mine (LOM) plans aligned with the approved mine strategy and available resources.
• Update long-term mine plans and production schedules to support operational and business objectives.
• Prepare annual mine budgets, production targets, and departmental expenditure forecasts.
• Conduct pit optimization studies to maximize resource recovery and project value.
• Design open pits, stockpiles, and waste dumps in accordance with operational requirements.
• Evaluate equipment requirements, replacement strategies, and fleet optimization opportunities.
• Perform equipment trade-off analyses to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and review operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) expenditure plans.
• Monitor adherence to mine design parameters, production plans, and resource allocation strategies.
• Compile and validate year-end mineral reserve statements.
• Prepare regular technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Assess and report on brownfield exploration opportunities and the potential of known deposits.
• Provide planning inputs and recommendations to support strategic mine development.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of external consultants on planning and development projects.
• Promote a strong safety culture while mentoring and developing the technical capabilities of national team members.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in long-term mine planning within a gold open-pit mining environment.
• Proven experience in developing and optimizing Life of Mine (LOM) plans and production schedules.
• Hands-on experience in both long-term and short-term mine planning.
• Proficiency in MineSight, Talpac, Gems, Surpac, MineSched, Datamine, and Whittle software packages.
• Strong knowledge of pit optimization, mine design, scheduling, and reserve estimation principles.
• Experience in OPEX and CAPEX budgeting and economic evaluation of mining projects.
• Sound knowledge of AutoCAD for mine and infrastructure design applications.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
• Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
• Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days on duty followed by 7 days off.
• A valid Proof of Good Conduct (Bewijs van Goed Gedrag) will be required upon selection.
