About the role

Why Aidoptation?

At Aidoptation, we develop autonomous driving software for high-speed (120kph) driving. Our EdgeDrive stack is built on deterministic, rule-based control and designed to avoid safety-critical situations before they arise. We hold the first authorisation to test Level 4 autonomy on public highways up to the speed limit. As a startup, we move fast and stay close to the technology, so your work ends up on real vehicles on real roads. Because of our roots in autonomous racing we build with precision and robustness.

Role Description

You will design, build, and integrate the hardware package of our autonomous vehicles. A core part of the role is 3D CAD design of the components that house and mount our sensors and electronics, iterating quickly through prototyping and 3D printing to deliver parts that are robust, serviceable, and cleanly integrated into the vehicle. Alongside this, you will create electrical schematics, dimension components, and design PCBs where needed.

You will program and configure the electronic components within the hardware package, including ECUs and microcontrollers, and work closely with the software team to ensure hardware and autonomy stack interact reliably. You will also support vehicle bring-up, troubleshooting, and on-track testing. As part of a small, fast-growing team, you will take ownership across different areas as needs evolve, and over time own the design and integration of our vehicle hardware platforms. Regular travel to test sites may be required based on test campaigns.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Electrical schematics, design and reading of electrical diagrams, with a focus on automotive wiring harnesses and connectors.
  • Electrical dimensioning and integration, sizing and integrating electrical components within complex systems.
  • Automation sensors, working knowledge of LiDAR, radar, camera-based perception systems and GPS.
  • PCB design, basic to intermediate experience designing printed circuit boards.
  • CAD design, familiarity with CAD tools for 3D design (nice to have: experience with 3D printing).
  • Software programming, ability to program ECUs and electronic components. (nice to have: Matlab/Simulink, Python)
  • Embedded controllers, foundational understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller.
  • Driving license valid in the EU
  • Startup mentality: ownership, speed, hands-on, and high standards
  • Fluent English (Dutch is a plus)
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the EU. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous experience or exposure to automotive or motorsport projects (academic teams, internships or personal projects).
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and clean integration
  • A genuine passion for high-performance autonomous vehicle technology.

As part of a small, fast-growing team, this role requires strong adaptability and the ability to autonomously manage and complete diverse tasks taking ownership across different areas of the project as needs evolve.
