About the role

At DVT, we build technology solutions that solve real business challenges. As a leading software engineering and technology consulting company, we partner with clients across industries to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions using modern engineering practices and emerging technologies.

DVT is partnering with a leading enterprise client to build secure, scalable, AI-powered platforms that will transform how teams work, automate decision-making, and accelerate business outcomes.

We're looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer who combines deep .NET engineering expertise with modern AI development practices. This role is ideal for a senior software engineer who can build robust APIs, cloud-native services, AI orchestration layers, and enterprise-grade solutions leveraging Azure AI technologies.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity where you'll architect, build, and deploy production-ready AI systems rather than experiment in isolated proof-of-concepts.

What You'll Do

As a Principal AI Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering enterprise AI capabilities that are reliable, secure, and scalable.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and building enterprise-grade AI applications using C#, .NET, and Azure.
  • Developing high-performance APIs and microservices that integrate with AI and machine learning capabilities.
  • Building intelligent applications leveraging Azure OpenAI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Designing and implementing Agentic AI solutions capable of autonomous task execution and workflow orchestration.
  • Developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using vector databases and semantic search.
  • Building reusable platform services that enable AI adoption across the broader technology landscape.
  • Creating robust integration layers between AI services and enterprise platforms.
  • Implementing MLOps and DevOps practices to support reliable AI deployment and monitoring.
  • Ensuring solutions meet enterprise security, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to engineering teams.

What We're Looking For

Strong .NET Engineering Background

You are first and foremost an exceptional software engineer.

You'll bring:

  • 6-8+ years of software development experience.
  • Advanced C# and .NET expertise.
  • Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience building enterprise-scale applications.
  • Strong SQL and database design knowledge.
  • Experience working within Agile software delivery teams.

Azure & Cloud-Native Development

You'll have hands-on experience with:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Azure OpenAI
  • Azure AI Services
  • Azure Machine Learning
  • Azure Storage

As well as:

  • Containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Cloud-native architectures
  • Event-driven systems
  • Microservices

AI Engineering & Agentic Systems

You'll have practical experience building modern AI-powered solutions, including:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Prompt engineering
  • Agent frameworks and orchestration
  • Tool calling and workflow automation
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Vector databases and embeddings
  • Knowledge retrieval systems
  • Context and memory management
  • Multi-agent architectures

MLOps & AI Operations

Experience with:

  • Model deployment
  • Monitoring and observability
  • Automated testing
  • Version control and governance
  • Performance optimisation
  • Drift detection
  • Production AI operations

Security & Engineering Excellence

You'll understand:

  • Secure software development practices
  • API security
  • AI security considerations
  • Architecture governance
  • Enterprise compliance requirements
  • Responsible AI principles

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a technically curious engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges and building software that delivers real-world impact.

You'll likely be someone who:

  • Loves building scalable platforms and APIs.
  • Enjoys exploring emerging AI technologies.
  • Thinks like an architect but still enjoys coding.
  • Can translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions.
  • Thrives in complex enterprise environments.
  • Mentors others and raises engineering standards around them.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6-8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise applications into production.
  • Strong C#, .NET, Azure, and API development skills.

Advantageous

  • Experience building AI-powered applications.
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI and Generative AI technologies.
  • Experience with MLOps platforms and practices.
  • Azure certifications.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional software engineering and help build the next generation of intelligent enterprise systems.

You'll work on cutting-edge AI initiatives, modern Azure technologies, large-scale architecture challenges, and innovative solutions that combine software engineering excellence with the power of AI.
