About the role
Who is Quantium?
Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.
Within Quantium, Retail Product Engineering builds the analytics and data products that make Quantium Retail the industry leader for some of the world’s largest retailers. Our Salesforce platform underpins how we manage client relationships, commercial processes and service delivery at scale, and it is central to how we bring our products to market.
As a Salesforce Engineering Lead, you will lead a team of Salesforce engineers, owning both the growth of the people in your team and the quality of what the team builds on the Salesforce Platform. This is a people leadership role. You will manage, coach and develop your team, set clear performance expectations and build capability across the Salesforce discipline. You will stay close enough to the technology to make sound design calls, review work credibly and guide the team through complex platform decisions, but your primary accountability is the performance and development of your team.
How will you make an impact?
- Lead and develop your people: Lead, manage and develop a team of Salesforce engineers, owning recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development and retention within the team.
- Coach with clarity: Provide regular, specific feedback and coaching, and hold clear performance conversations aligned to the Quantium capability framework and success profiles.
- Own delivery outcomes: Own delivery for the team’s Salesforce workstreams, including planning, prioritisation, estimation and dependency management.
- Set the engineering standard: Set and uphold engineering standards for the Salesforce Platform, covering Apex, Aura and LWC development, code review, testing, release management and technical documentation.
- Guide architecture and design: Guide architecture and design decisions across Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Revenue Cloud and Agentforce, escalating and socialising significant trade-offs with senior stakeholders.
- Build capability: Build capability in the team across new and emerging Salesforce modules, ensuring skills keep pace with the platform roadmap.
- Partner across the business: Partner with Product, Delivery, Data and Security teams to translate business requirements into well-scoped, deliverable engineering work.
- Keep the platform healthy: Manage the health of the platform, including technical debt reduction, performance, reliability and governance of managed packages and integrations.
- Shape Retail Product Engineering: Contribute to the broader Retail Product Engineering leadership group, shaping ways of working, hiring standards and capability plans.
What will your day to day look like?
- Run regular one-on-ones, development planning and performance cycles for all direct reports.
- Maintain a capability plan for the team, identifying gaps and securing training, certifications and stretch work to close them.
- Oversee sprint planning, refinement and delivery ceremonies, and report predictably on progress, risks and blockers.
- Review designs and pull requests to maintain quality and consistency across the Salesforce codebase.
- Own release quality, including deployment practices, environment management and regression testing coverage.
- Lead incident response and post-incident reviews for platform issues, driving durable fixes rather than repeat workarounds.
- Track and reduce technical debt with demonstrable business impact.
- Represent the team in cross-functional forums, negotiating scope and sequencing with Product and stakeholder groups.
- Support hiring through interviewing, assessment design and onboarding of new engineers.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing, psychological safety and continuous improvement within the team.
The superpowers you’ll be bringing to the team:
- Salesforce leadership: Established leadership experience in Salesforce specialist roles, including a comprehensive understanding of the overall Salesforce Platform, alongside solid technical skills in broader application engineering.
- People leadership: Demonstrated experience in performance management, coaching and capability development.
- Platform development expertise: Experience with Apex, Aura and Lightning Web Component (LWC) frameworks.
- Cloud and module knowledge: Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Revenue Cloud and Agentforce is highly desirable, along with an appetite for learning new modules within the Salesforce ecosystem.
- Web fundamentals: Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS and the browser stack.
- Certifications: Salesforce certifications (PD2 and/or Architect).
- Sound judgement: Sound judgement on technical trade-offs, with the ability to guide and challenge designs without owning delivery personally.
- Communication and influence: Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence Product and business partners.
- Modern engineering practices: Experience with CI/CD, test automation and integration design.
Remember – you might not tick all the boxes, but don’t let that from stopping you applying. We’re more interested in how you work, your ability to solve problems and think big.
What could your Quantium Experience look like?
Working at Quantium will allow you to challenge your imagination. You will get to solve complex problems using rigor, precision and by asking great questions – but it also means you can think big, outside the box and push your problem-solving skills to the max.
By joining the Quantium team, you’ll get to:
- Forge your path: So many of our team have moved around different teams or offices. You’ll be in the driver’s seat, and we empower you to make your career your own.
- Find your kind: Embrace diversity and connect with your tribe (think foodies, dog lovers, readers, or runners).
- Make an impact: Leave your mark. Your contributions resonate, regardless of your role or rank.
But wait, there’s more!
