Python Data Engineer – Financial Services

We are looking for an experienced Python Data Engineer to join our team and work alongside an existing senior engineer.

The role will focus on developing reliable data pipelines, automation solutions and cloud-based data products within a regulated financial-services environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and support production-grade Python data pipelines and automation workflows.
  • Integrate data from APIs, databases and third-party platforms.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes, data-quality controls and reconciliation checks.
  • Create maintainable, tested and well-documented solutions.
  • Deploy and support workloads using source control and CI/CD.

Essential skills

  • Strong commercial Python development experience.
  • Advanced SQL and practical data-modelling skills.
  • Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and REST API integrations.
  • Knowledge of testing, logging, error handling and production support.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD.
  • Understanding of data security, auditability and governance.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Desirable skills

  • Databricks.
  • Playwright, Selenium or similar automation tools.
  • Azure or another major cloud platform.
  • Docker, Linux and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Azure OpenAI or other enterprise AI integrations.
  • Previous experience in banking, financial services or another regulated industry.
