Now, we're looking for a Head of Engineering. You will lead our multi-team engineering organization across our customer and driver apps, backend platforms, and operations tools, while spearheading our transition to an AI-native organization.

Responsibilities:

• Keep mission-critical services reliable. Build robust, highly available systems at scale, designed to self-heal and backed by tested failover and disaster recovery for critical workflows.
• Lead incidents end to end. Take command when things break, coordinate across engineering, SRE, and Ops, drive rigorous RCAs, and put preventive measures in place so issues don't recur.
• Build a healthy, high-performing org. Grow the engineering organization through hiring as well as career and skill development. Set a culture of ownership and align teams around clear goals and metrics.
• Deliver the roadmap predictably. Work with Product to shape features and sharpen scope, ensuring solutions are scalable, well architected, and built as reusable platforms. Keep commitments predictable, rescue projects that drift, and make releases safe.
• Set the technical bar. Quality-gate architecture and designs for scalability, security, and cost before they reach the CTO, and provide senior technical direction across squads.
• Raise the bar on velocity and stability. Establish meaningful delivery and reliability metrics for our systems and teams, use them to spot bottlenecks, and remove what slows engineers down.
• Lead the shift to AI-native engineering. Use AI to improve developer experience: remove friction and toil from how engineers build, review, ship, and operate, and drive measurable gains in speed, quality, and system health.

Requirements

• You have 12+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years leading multi-team engineering orgs, with real ownership of OKRs, performance management, hiring, and turning around delivery.
• You have led engineering for a mature, consumer-facing product with a large user base, and you care about building features that delight customers and solve real problems.
• You have a track record of leading incident response and reliability improvements on high-traffic, real-time systems. You embrace an SRE mindset and culture: SLOs, error budgets, blameless postmortems, and automation over toil.
• You build secure apps and services by default (secure coding, mobile app security, data privacy) and catch issues early in design and code review.
• You weigh cloud and engineering costs in every trade-off and keep spend efficient as we scale.
• You have deep, hands-on knowledge of databases, Kubernetes, GCP, Redis, and Kafka, and you are never far removed from hands-on technical work.
• You use AI yourself and have driven its adoption across an organization, with results to show.
• You bridge the technical and business worlds: you can explain complex systems simply, communicate technical vision and architecture to engineers, peers, and executives, and align stakeholders around clear trade-offs.
