Team Overview:

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

EDC is seeking a senior network engineering professional to lead the design, implementation, automation, validation, modernization, and production transition of secure enterprise network services. The role combines deep networking expertise with infrastructure platform engineering practices and provides senior technical guidance across internal teams, vendors, and managed service providers.

What you will be doing:

  • Own the delivery of approved network solutions from concept and design through implementation, automated validation, production transition, and operational readiness.
  • Act as the senior Network Subject Matter Expert, providing technical leadership across network engineering, implementation planning, lifecycle improvement, complex troubleshooting, and remediation.
  • Design and deliver production-ready software-defined network services across campus, data centre, cloud, and branch environments, including secure segmentation, identity-based access, remote access, and Zero Trust-aligned services.
  • Design and implement secure, resilient cloud and hybrid connectivity solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.
  • Lead network delivery workstreams across architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, project teams, vendors, and managed service providers, removing technical roadblocks and managing delivery risks and dependencies.
  • Review and challenge technical designs, implementation and migration plans, test strategies, deployment and cutover approaches, and vendor recommendations to improve quality and reduce delivery risk.
  • Integrate network platforms through APIs and automation, leveraging scripting, Git-based workflows, infrastructure-as-code, and repeatable pipelines to automate deployment, testing, validation, and compliance.
  • Implement and enhance network telemetry, observability, event correlation, performance visibility, and security platform integrations to support reliable network services.
  • Apply and continuously improve engineering standards, implementation guardrails, reusable patterns, automation practices, security controls, and service-readiness criteria.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective action planning, and remediation of recurring service risks, lifecycle issues, and technical debt.
  • Provide technical oversight of vendors and managed service providers, validating that delivered solutions meet enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, operational, lifecycle, and reliability requirements.
  • Develop technical designs, implementation and migration plans, cutover plans, validation evidence, and operational readiness documentation to support successful production transitions.
  • Support change approvals by assessing technical risk, validating implementation readiness, and translating technical risks into clear impacts, remediation options, and recommendations for decision-makers.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in enterprise networking, infrastructure engineering, network transformation, or related technology disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience acting as a senior Network Subject Matter Expert, engineering delivery lead, or technical implementation authority.
  • Demonstrated delivery of enterprise network solutions from design through implementation, validation, and production transition.
  • Experience delivering network modernization, cloud networking, software-defined networking, automation, resiliency, security integration, or technical remediation initiatives.
  • Experience governing managed service providers, vendor deliverables, implementation quality, lifecycle risk, and technical debt remediation.
  • Expertise in programmable and data centre networking, including software-defined networking, controller-based architectures, spine-leaf, segmentation, high availability and traffic engineering.
  • Experience with secure network platforms and Zero Trust, including Cisco ISE, firewalls, identity-based and remote access; Cisco ACI experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud and hybrid connectivity, including Azure networking, ExpressRoute, VPNs, routing and core services such as DNS, DHCP and IP address management.
  • Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code, using APIs, Python, Ansible, Git, CI/CD, automated testing and validation.
  • Experience with network observability and reliability, including telemetry, monitoring, event correlation, root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical delivery assurance, including design reviews, implementation validation, migration and cutover planning, change readiness and vendor oversight.

What will make you stand out:

  • Certifications or Equivalent Capability: Certifications complement, but do not replace demonstrated experience delivering complex enterprise network solutions.
  • Demonstrated senior-level network engineering capability aligned with CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, CCNP Data Center, Cisco DevNet Professional, or Cisco Certified CyberOps Professional; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Additional capability or certification in cloud networking, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer.
