Software Engineer II– Backup (Go/PHP)

Position Summary

The Software Engineer will join Kaseya’s R&D team to build and maintain its Backup product. The role focuses on developing backend components in Go or PHP and working with public cloud infrastructure and Ubuntu Linux environments. The engineer will contribute to reliable, high-performance backup systems while collaborating with senior engineers to deliver quality features.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop reliable and scalable backend services and CLI tools in Go or PHP, with guidance from senior engineers.
• Work with cloud infrastructure across staging and production environments.
• Investigate technical issues and help resolve application, infrastructure, and deployment blockers.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and work with SQL databases such as MySQL.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support software quality and reliability.
• Follow established practices for code quality, Git workflows, documentation, and CI/CD.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with engineers across the R&D team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, with 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Backend development experience in Go or PHP, or the willingness and ability to learn either language.
• Experience with SQL databases (such as MySQL), RESTful API design and implementation, and writing unit and integration tests.
• Familiarity with at least one major public cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and standard branching workflows.
• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and DNS, and English proficiency at B2 level or above.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Linux or Ubuntu environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes and exposure to microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana.
• Awareness of software and infrastructure security best practices.
