About the role

Director of Data Governance, BI & AI Enablement

Position Overview

The Director, Enterprise Data, BI & AI Enablement is responsible for executing the organization’s enterprise data strategy, driving data governance, and leading the team that builds our reporting, analytics, and AI-ready infrastructure. This role bridges the gap between executive vision and technical execution. You will ensure the integrity, accessibility, and structural readiness of data to power both daily operational business decisions and advanced AI/machine learning initiatives across the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities

AI Enablement & Advanced Analytics

  • Build AI-Ready Foundations: Design and optimize data architectures, semantic layers, and feature stores to support Large Language Model (LLM) deployment, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and data science applications.
  • Implement Predictive Analytics: Lead the development and deployment of predictive models (e.g., forecasting, attrition risk, customer lifetime value) into production business workflows.
  • Drive Data-Driven Automation: Identify opportunities to automate standard business workflows and decision-making processes using trusted, clean data pipelines.
  • Ensure AI Governance: Establish data privacy, ethics, and security guardrails specifically for AI training data, ensuring compliance with data sovereignty and intellectual property rules.

Tactical Data Strategy & Execution

  • Execute the Data Roadmap: Translate executive data and AI priorities into a clear, actionable roadmap and technical project pipeline.
  • Maintain the Single Source of Truth: Oversee data integration and engineering across Salesforce, NetSuite, product platforms, payment gateways, and core operational systems.
  • Manage Data Investments: Assess the technical feasibility, infrastructure costs, and business value of data/AI requests to prioritize team sprints.

BI, Reporting & Metric Standardization

  • Standardize Metrics: Implement and enforce company-wide KPIs and business definitions to eliminate conflicting reporting and multiple "versions of the truth."
  • Deliver Operational Dashboards: Ensure managers, directors, and executives receive accurate, consistent, and highly automated operational reporting.
  • Drive Self-Service Adoption: Design, deliver, and maintain self-service business intelligence (BI) tools and training programs for departmental business leaders.

Data Governance & Quality Management

  • Enforce Data Stewardship: Facilitate cross-functional data governance working groups to define clear data ownership and accountability across departments.
  • Implement Quality Controls: Establish automated checks and processes to audit, monitor, and improve data accuracy at the ingestion source, ensuring high-quality training data for AI models.

Functional Business Analytics Partnership

  • Support Core Functions: Partner closely with Finance, Revenue/Sales, Operations, Product, and Customer Experience teams to deliver actionable, cross-functional insights.
  • Enhance Financial Visibility: Provide advanced data support for corporate forecasting, customer growth metrics, onboarding velocity, and pricing decisions.

Platform Management & Team Leadership

  • Manage Data Infrastructure: Oversee the day-to-day operations and scaling of the enterprise data architecture, data warehouse, and reporting platforms.
  • Lead and Mentor: Direct and mentor a team of data engineers, BI analysts, and data modelers, fostering professional growth in modern analytics and data-for-AI practices.
  • Partner with Tech Teams: Collaborate with Product & Technology engineers early in the development lifecycle to plan data movement, API integrations, and model deployment pipelines before product builds begin.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, finance, business intelligence, enterprise analytics, data strategy, or a related function, including experience leading cross-functional teams and enterprise initiatives.
  • Finance & Business Acumen: Strong command of forecasting, planning, management reporting, KPI development, financial and operational analysis, and translating business performance drivers into actionable insights.
  • Data & Analytics Leadership: Demonstrated success using data, analytics, and automation to improve decision-making, standardize metrics, strengthen reporting, and reduce manual processes across Finance and other business functions.
  • BI & Technical Fluency: Advanced proficiency with modern BI and visualization platforms, preferably Power BI, and practical knowledge of SQL, data modeling, semantic layers, cloud data platforms, data warehouses, and enterprise system integrations. Deep software engineering expertise is not required, but the ability to direct technical teams and evaluate solution design is essential.
  • AI & Advanced Analytics: Practical experience applying predictive analytics, machine learning, generative AI, LLM, or RAG capabilities to business use cases, with an understanding of the data readiness, governance, controls, and adoption requirements needed for responsible deployment.
  • Data Governance: Experience establishing or operating within data ownership, quality, metadata, privacy, security, and governance frameworks in regulated or data-sensitive environments.
  • Business Partnership: Strong track record partnering with Finance, Revenue, Operations, Product, Customer Experience, and Technology leaders to translate business needs into scalable reporting, data, analytics, and AI solutions.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to connect financial and operational objectives to data and technology priorities and communicate complex concepts as clear, business-focused outcomes for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to commute to and work onsite at our White Plains, NY office 4-5 days per week.
