About the role
About Redwood Materials
Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain.
On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.
Position Summary
Redwood Materials is looking for an Electrical Technician IV to act as the technical lead in our Industrial Control Cabinet Fabrication shop. In this role, you will support our Controls and Manufacturing Engineering teams with the development, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of high-tech manufacturing equipment and processes. As a Senior/Level IV Technician, you will manage build and delivery schedules, lead daily shop operations, review BOMs and schematics, and mentor up-and-coming technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily fabrication tasks, manage shop workflows, and maintain build and delivery schedules for custom industrial control panels.
Review, redline, and provide feedback on electrical schematics, layouts, and drafting quality to optimize designs.
Provide accurate time and material estimates for new equipment builds and system upgrades.
Troubleshoot complex process or equipment issues and maintain/upgrade existing control system infrastructure.
Onboard, train, and mentor entry-level technicians in fabrication and electrical standards.
Oversee and maintain control shop parts and component inventories.
Qualifications & Skills
Strong electrical aptitude with demonstrated experience working on industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
Hands-on experience wiring 480V power systems as well as complex low-voltage controls and instrumentation.
Practical knowledge of UL508A requirements, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards.
Proven mechanical layout precision, metal cutting capability, and experience with stud welding or light welding for control cabinets.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and solve problems under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Working Conditions
Environment: Industrial shop and manufacturing facility environment (indoors/outdoors).
Ability to work in challenging working conditions, which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
Essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, lifting, precision hand motion, or typing.
Occasional work weekends, nights, or being on-call as a regular part of the job.
Occasional travel requirements.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
