About the role

About the Role

Join an early-stage AI data and annotation company as its founding product designer. You will own the contributor platform experience, helping people understand and complete complex tasks through clear, intuitive product design.

What You'll Do

  • Identify usability challenges and own product improvements from discovery and design through implementation.
  • Create flows and interfaces that make task requirements easier for non-technical contributors to understand.
  • Partner with the founding team and engineers to turn project requirements into effective platform experiences.
  • Build and maintain the product's design system, reusable components, and visual language.
  • Use AI coding tools and the existing frontend infrastructure to implement and ship your own UI changes.
  • Prototype quickly, observe user behavior, and iterate on designs to improve usability and task comprehension.
  • Raise the bar for product craft across responsive layouts, loading and empty states, copy, and edge cases.

What We're Looking For

  • One to two years of product or UX design experience, including internships, and experience designing consumer-facing products.
  • Strong design taste, a high iteration pace, and comfort exploring distinct concepts and experimenting with product experiences.
  • Experience shipping frontend or UI changes to production, including with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, alongside design tools such as Figma.
  • Startup experience and experience designing for AI or data-focused products are useful. Consumer product design breadth beyond dashboards is important.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $130,000 to $160,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

On-site in San Mateo, California.
