About the Role

Join an early-stage AI company building software for insurance claims operations. As the founding product designer, you will shape the end-to-end user experience for claims teams and help turn complex workflows into clear, enterprise-ready products.

What You'll Do

  • Design customer-facing experiences, including daily claims workspaces and dashboards for team leads and executives.
  • Research how customers use the product through behavioral data, heat maps, discovery calls, and direct observation, then use findings to prioritize improvements.
  • Partner with product and engineering to translate customer problems into workflows and implementation-ready designs.
  • Design interactions for AI agents that make their actions, sources, reasoning, and uncertainty clear to users, while supporting human review and intervention.
  • Guide product experiences from discovery through delivery as the platform evolves for larger insurance organizations.
  • Establish design principles and a design system, and use AI tools to prototype and evaluate improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Five to eight years of product design experience, including early-stage startup experience as a founding designer or first design hire.
  • A UX-first, data-informed approach to simplifying complex workflows, supported by product analytics and user research.
  • Experience designing dense, technical software used regularly by operational teams, with strong end-to-end product design work beyond visual UI.
  • Experience prototyping with AI coding tools such as Claude or Lovable.
  • Experience in insurance, claims, healthcare, or another compliance-heavy operational domain is a plus.
  • Experience with AI and human-in-the-loop product interactions, or building design systems, is also valued.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary is $170,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa transfers are accepted, but new visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

On-site, five days per week in New York, New York.
