We are looking for a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented Business Analyst Intern to support business process analysis, improvement, and automation across the organisation.

In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand operational requirements, document workflows, analyse data, test system enhancements, and support the implementation of business solutions.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy solving problems, understanding how systems work, identifying inefficiencies, and translating ideas into structured, actionable solutions. Prior experience in business analysis or ERP systems is not mandatory. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective communication, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Requirements Gathering

  • Interact with business teams to understand existing processes, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ask relevant questions to clarify requirements, identify missing information, and understand business expectations.
  • Convert business requirements into structured notes, functional specifications, and actionable tasks under guidance.
  • Identify process gaps, exceptions, dependencies, and opportunities for workflow automation.
  • Assist in preparing user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirement documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood by both business users and technical teams.

2. Process Mapping and Documentation

  • Document existing business processes and proposed improvements.
  • Prepare process flowcharts, workflow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and requirement documents.
  • Maintain clear documentation of business rules, validations, dependencies, and expected system behaviour.
  • Update documentation based on stakeholder feedback and evolving requirements.
  • Ensure process documents are structured, accurate, and easy for business users and developers to understand.

3. Functional Testing and Validation

  • Prepare and execute test cases for ERP enhancements, internal tools, and business applications.
  • Test standard workflows, invalid inputs, boundary conditions, and exceptional scenarios.
  • Identify defects, document reproduction steps, and communicate findings to the technical team.
  • Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing when required.
  • Assist business users during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Validate whether system enhancements meet the original business requirements and expected outcomes.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to analyse operational data, identify discrepancies, and prepare reports.
  • Write basic SQL queries to retrieve, compare, and validate data from databases.
  • Assist in investigating data mismatches and identifying potential root causes.
  • Support the preparation of operational reports, performance dashboards, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) trackers.
  • Maintain data accuracy and highlight inconsistencies that may affect business decisions.

5. Project and Automation Support

  • Assist with ERP enhancements, workflow automation, and system integration projects.
  • Coordinate with developers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and track pending tasks.
  • Research potential solutions and evaluate tools that could improve operational efficiency.
  • Use AI tools to support research, documentation, and test-case generation while independently validating the accuracy of the outputs.
  • Track assigned deliverables, communicate blockers proactively, and follow through on tasks until completion.
  • Contribute ideas for simplifying processes, reducing manual effort, and improving operational workflows.

Must-Have Skills

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down unfamiliar problems, recognise patterns, interpret information, and arrive at logical conclusions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify missing information, incorrect values, inconsistencies, and overlooked conditions.
  • Communication: Ability to understand instructions, ask relevant questions, document findings, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to question assumptions, evaluate alternatives, identify gaps, and assess whether a proposed solution makes sense.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to approach business challenges systematically and develop practical solutions.
  • Learning Agility: Willingness to learn new software, business processes, and technical concepts quickly.
  • Ownership and Accountability: Ability to complete assigned tasks, incorporate feedback, communicate progress, and follow through without repeated reminders.
  • Basic Computer Proficiency: Comfortable working with spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and other productivity tools.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • SQL: Basic understanding of queries, data retrieval, filtering, and data validation.
  • Google Sheets and Excel: Familiarity with formulas, sorting, filtering, lookups, and basic data analysis.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to coordinate with peers, take initiative, and contribute to team objectives.
  • ERP Systems: Basic understanding of enterprise resource planning systems or business applications.
  • Process Mapping: Familiarity with flowcharts, workflow diagrams, and structured documentation.
  • Software Testing: Introductory knowledge of test cases, bug reporting, and validation.
  • AI Tools: Experience using AI tools for research, documentation, and productivity, along with the ability to verify generated outputs.
  • Databases and APIs: Basic understanding of databases, software applications, or application programming interfaces (APIs).

These skills are desirable but not mandatory. Candidates with strong analytical abilities and a willingness to learn will be considered even if they have limited technical experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Final-year students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong logical, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in spreadsheets, documents, and presentation tools.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with business and technical teams.
  • A proactive attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to learn through feedback.

Prior experience in business analysis, SQL, Excel, ERP systems, APIs, or software testing is not required. Academic projects, internships, or practical examples demonstrating problem-solving ability will be an advantage.

Selection Process

Round 1: Analytical and Critical Thinking Assessment

A timed assessment covering logical reasoning, numerical reasoning, data interpretation, identification of inconsistencies, and business problem-solving.

Round 2: Business Case Study

Candidates will be presented with a practical business scenario and asked to identify missing information, map the workflow, consider possible exceptions, and propose a structured solution.

Round 3: Basic Technical Assessment

A practical evaluation of spreadsheet skills and, where applicable, basic SQL knowledge and data validation abilities.

Round 4: Interview and Discussion

An assessment of communication skills, learning agility, attention to detail, response to feedback, problem-solving approach, and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.

What We Expect From the Candidate

We do not expect an intern to know every tool or business process from day one. We are looking for someone who thinks logically, asks thoughtful questions, learns from feedback, documents work clearly, and takes responsibility for completing assigned tasks.

The internship is designed to help the candidate develop into a capable business analyst who can progressively manage requirements gathering, process documentation, functional testing, data validation, and process improvement activities independently.
